Digital inclusion is more than just handing out laptops or connecting to the internet. It’s about ensuring everyone has equitable access to digital technologies, the skills to use them effectively and the opportunity to benefit from them regardless of geography, gender or economic status.

In marginalized areas like Northern Kenya e.g Marsabit it takes on even deeper meaning. Many secondary schools here still operate with empty or under-equipped computer labs, unreliable power, limited or no internet and teachers who may lack training. Students in these regions often come from pastoralist communities where lack of fees, mobility, cultural responsibilities and harsh climates already challenge consistent schooling.
At the secondary level, digital inclusion means turning those dusty, empty labs into vibrant hubs where students don’t just consume technology they create with it. It means girls and boys learning coding, digital research, online safety, data literacy and collaboration tools alongside their core subjects. Without it, these young minds are locked out of modern education and the jobs of tomorrow.
