Aid refers to a dependency and unequal relation; someone in need, someone who can and wants to help.
Development cooperation refers to a more equal relation, but.... still.... in reality too often, we assume that development is towards a kind of 'western inspired' economy and society; which has so many flaws, can only exist at the expense of other parts of the world....
I hope we can build a new narrative on international cooperation in solidarity, in search of equity, inclusiveness and sustainability, towards a future which may have all kinds of developments, adaptations, adjustments, in all parts of the world.
In order to be able to have a good dialogue on this, we need to be able to take distance from the daily practice of our work, to question what got us here (and won't bring us there), and we need to be open to mind shifts.
