Educational Opportunity Foundation (EOF)
UK Projects Grant Stream (within the Main Fund)
Description
This grant is designed to improve educational outcomes and life chances for care-experienced young people under 25 living in the UK. The Foundation supports UK-based charities whose work directly engages care-experienced young people, their carers, or education professionals through projects that:
1. Enable attendance and engagement in mainstream education
2. Support trauma-informed learning environments
3. Provide out-of-school support and enrichment
4. Train carers and professionals in advocacy and education support
5. Prepare young people for further education, employment, or training
Grants may cover new or pilot initiatives, or support projects launched within the past 12 months. EOF supports both single-year and multi-year projects (up to 3 years).
EOF places emphasis on:
1. Matched funding (preferred, not mandatory)
2. Sustainable project design
3. Demonstrated alignment with the needs of care-experienced youth
4. Trauma-informed practice
Eligibility
To be considered, applicants must be a UK-registered charity with an annual income between £25,000 and £2.5 million and possess at least three years of continuous financial accounts. They must directly deliver project services, rather than acting as intermediaries or fundraising bodies. Applicants are also required to have safeguarding policies that align with Charity Commission expectations and demonstrate a commitment to environmental responsibility, such as incorporating climate mitigation or adaptation in their project design. Excluded applicants or projects include organizations without a clear track record or the required documents, projects not specifically designed for care-experienced youth, ongoing state-funded services or long-term care provisions, and bursaries, scholarships, international travel, or projects where uniforms or transport constitute the primary expense.
